Brooke ShieldsBrooke Shields is in talks to join The View.

The 47-year-old Blue Lagoon actress has reportedly been approached by ABC to join the US morning chat show's panel after current host Joy Behar recently announced she is leaving the popular series after 16 seasons and amid rumors Elizabeth Hasselbeck's contract has not been renewed.

According to gossip website showbiz411.com, Barbara Walters, who is at the helm of the series, thinks that Brooke would be a great addition and is eager for her to take over one of the vacant spots. Sources said Barbara really wants her because the actress has two children, is a Princeton graduate and "very articulate," but also has great connections in Hollywood.

The brunette beauty, who previously acted as a guest host, is said to be in final negotiations to join the show next season alongside Whoopi Goldberg, Sherri Shepherd, and Barbara.

Cheryl ColeCheryl Cole could be offered a huge deal to return to The X Factor.

The 29-year-old pop star was sacked during the show's first series in 2011 before suing Simon Cowell's talent show for $2.3 million, but it's now being reported she could be offered a big contract to tempt a return for the former judge.

"This is a massive move from Simon. He's going right out there and saying that he made a mistake in sacking her. After she was shunted off the show, TV critics in the US said in reviews that she was the best thing about the program - and it seems for once that Simon was wrong. Over the past two seasons, the X Factor hasn't performed as Simon would have wanted - now it looks like Cheryl will be the savior," a source said.

The insider speculates the Girls Aloud singer might not accept the deal after the added "humiliation" of being replaced by Nicole Scherzinger on the UK version of the show.

Melissa McCarthyMelissa McCarthy will host Saturday Night Live for the second time on April 6.

The Identity Thief star - whose weight recently came under fire by a US movie critic - will return to present the NBC comedy sketch show for the second time in two years after winning rave reviews for her series debut in October 2011.

The 42-year-old Emmy-winning actress - who began her career doing sketch comedy with the Los Angeles improv troupe Groundlings - previously reunited with her Bridesmaids co-star Kristen Wiig on the show for a hilarious skit about an inappropriate office worker who sexually harasses a co-worker played by Jason Sudeikis.

Melissa has kept a relatively low profile since veteran film critic Rex Reed trashed her role in Identity Thief last month calling her "cacophonous" and "tractor-sized" and blasting her as "a gimmick comedian who has devoted her short career to being obese and obnoxious with equal success."

Brody, 29, has previously made guest appearances on Keeping Up With The Kardashians, appeared with his brother Brandon in The Princes of Malibu and was featured on The Hills while dating its star Lauren Conrad.

The FollowingThe Following has been renewed for a second season. The serial killer drama - which stars Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy - has been picked up by Fox thanks to its high ratings for season one.

"From the very beginning, we felt Kevin Williamson and Marcos Siega had created a high-quality, edge-of-your-seat drama that could break from the pack, and it is exciting to see the audience responding. Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy have given us two of the most compelling characters on television and the entire cast is incredible. I'm delighted to have this thrill ride continue on Fox for another season," Fox entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly in a statement.

Fox has also renewed comedies New Girl, The Mindy Project and Raising Hope, with Mr. Reilly adding, "These shows are creatively vibrant, they have established a loyal and passionate audience and they will continue to define and grow the Fox comedy brand next season and beyond."

Chloe SevignyChloe Sevigny is set to guest star on The Mindy Project.

The 38-year-old actress will portray Danny Castellano's (Chris Messina) ex wife Christina, a war photographer who makes an unexpected return to his life in a bid to give their relationship another chance. According to E! Online, Chloe will make her debut on the 22nd episode of the first season of the show, which has just been renewed for a second series.

Last year Chloe played Mia, a pre-op transgender hitman, in TV series Hit & Miss, but she admitted she was concerned that she wouldn't be able to do the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community justice in the role. "I was worried people would be angry that they didn't cast a real person who was transitioning. I asked why they didn't, and the producers said they didn't find the right person. It's a big responsibility toward that community, and I wanted to do them right," she said.

The Mindy Project currently airs Tuesday nights on FOX.

Mad Men

Folks in the legal department at Lionsgate Entertainment have their hands full with a new lawsuit against Mad Men.

Gita Hall May, who modeled in the 1950s and 1960s, filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles yesterday against the production company for using an image of her photographed by Richard Avedon for Revlon without her permission. In the suit, she claims that she only released consent for use of the photo to Revlon back in the early 1960s, and did not agree “to allow, forty years later, her image to be cropped from the photo, in secret, and inserted as a key element in the title sequence of a cable television series, without her consent and for commercial purposes."

Carrie UnderwoodCarrie Underwood would be a "constructive" X Factor judge.

The country starlet thinks she would be a great addition to the judging panel of Simon Cowell's singing competition, but worries she wouldn't be able to cope with shattering wannabe musicians' dreams.

"I'd never say never. I think I could do things in a very constructive way. But those initial auditions, where you have to say no or tell someone to stop? I don't know if I could do that," she said.

The blonde beauty also revealed she would love to collaborate with British acts including Oscar-winning Skyfall singer Adele. Carrie listed, "I love Jessie J, I think she's fearless, which is great. Coldplay. Adele, of course. I'm up for anything."

Siobhan Finneran on 'Downton Abbey'Siobhan Finneran is leaving Downton Abbey. The actress has played Lady Grantham's cunning maid Sarah O'Brien on the period drama since it began but has confirmed she will not appear in season four.

"I'm not doing any more. O'Brien is a thoroughly despicable human being - that was great to play," she told huffingtonpost.co.uk.

According to TVLine, her exit will not be shown onscreen and is expected to take place during the six month time jump between the end of season three and the beginning of season four. However, the character will not be killed off, leaving open the possibility of a return.

Siobhan is just the latest star to leave the hugely popular series, Dan Stevens, who played Matthew Crawley, and Jessica Brown Findlay, who starred as Lady Sybil, both left the series after their characters were killed off last season. Producer Gareth Neame recently insisted Dan's departure would turn into a "great opportunity" for his onscreen wife Lady Mary Crawley [Michelle Dockery].
